Hartsville High’s Women’s Basketball players, Ameonta Sutton and Kindan Dawson, were named All-Region selections this week by the Region 6 coaches. Sutton, a senior point guard, has played varsity basketball since she was a sophomore, earning the Region’s Newcomer of the Year award that season. This year’s All-Region selection is her first and bookends what has been an admirable career. Dawson, a junior combo guard, also earns her first All-Region selection. The two-year varsity starter, came into her own this season while playing multiple positions and doing whatever the team and coaches asked of her.
Here is what Coach Johnson had to say about his All Region athletes:
“Ameonta and Kindan embody the tireless motor, coachability, IQ, skillset, but most importantly, attitude, we want to permeate every aspect of our program. From our sub varsity teams, to our varsity team and beyond. There are not two more deserving players, in the state, for this incredible honor of being named the best amongst their peers. I consider myself lucky to have had the privilege of coaching them this season and seasons prior. Ameonta has been with me every step of the way during my tenure here and I can’t wait to truly begin coaching her as she transitions into life after high school.”
